Convention Haul - Historicon 2022

I made it to a Convention today for the first time in a long time... and I did pretty well with the deals! Check it out:
The Haul from Historicon 2022.

This is just a quick post to say hello and show off some cool stuff. Unfortunately I have one of those getting older injuries keeping me from the Summer of Eldar... you know the ones. You hurt yourself and don't know how or why it happened? Just seemingly woke up with it? That's a muscle in my painting arm right now. I guess I pulled it while I slept...

So anyway, continue reading to check out my new stuff.

Three Drones Meet at a Cave...

Since the Last War, production of new weapons and equipment is limited. So it's fallen on most to rely on arms dealers who resell salvaged equipment. While not great for an organization who doesn't have much of a budget, it does help balance things out as there's only a limited number of goods out there. You just have to know the right Arms Dealer to get what you want... and hope you can reach a reasonable bargain.

I know I hinted at some something for the Alai to work with... but while I was waiting for them to dry I knocked these minis out.

Indigenous Life Forms

The untamed planet of Locust 5 is home to all sorts of indigenous life forms. Among them are the scouts of the Saffron Tribes. These low tech tribes have used their psychic gifts to help them see a better path. That there is more to gain by acting as guides to prospectors who arrive to their planet than fighting against them.

A couple of bounty hunters broker a deal with some local scouts.

Knocked a few quick models out this week. Meant for more background NPC types... but cool effective models in my opinion. More after the break.

Stargrave - Pirate Trooper part 2

Hello! Took a few weeks off for a verity of things, but now I’m back at the hobby desk! To start the year off, I finished off a few more pirates to fill out the random encounter table of Stargrave:

The reports said a ship may have landed just behind those rocks...

The Crimson Fang pirate clan is known to operate in the Locust Sector of space. One of the more militaristic clans of the region, they seem to enjoy nothing more than to keep their sector in chaos. Almost as if their leaders simply dislike any sort of established rule…

Something is on the wing!

Even though I’ve been a little quiet, hobbying has been progressing! I’ve been trying to get a bunch of stuff prepared for winter painting. The weather around here is already too cold most days to prime with spray paint. So I prep for the days it warms up. However I really wanted to paint something, so I grabbed something I knew would be quick:

Scrap Apes are looking for a meal...

The Scrap Apes are something all ship captains have to keep an eye out for. These curious beasts are not only strong enough to rip open the hull of a ship, they also like to feast on some of the components when they do!

Stargrave - Pirate Trooper Part I

A quick detour from Orktober was needed after the primer used on Runt the Goblin didn't work well with contrast paints. This pirate was sitting on the painting table, so I decided to prime him up and see if a different can worked better. Happily it worked perfectly and the entire base of the model is contrast paints!

I was introduced to the models of Vor the Maelstrom by SpacecowSmith of the Tales from Farpoint blog a few months ago. I was really impressed by the look of the soldier model he posted. A little research later and found it part of the range was sculpted by none other than old hammer sculptor Kev Adams! Seems I missed these cool models while I was out of the hobby. So I spent some time on eBay and picked up a few models for some future project. When details of Stargrave hit, I knew exactly who I wanted to use (and snagged a few more models).
